This week the Rotary Club of Kona will be meeting at the Kona Historical Society for a tour of the Beekeeping Legacy Project.

"The Kona Beekeeping Legacy Project is a vibrant multimedia initiative that documents and celebrates the vital beekeeping industry on Hawai'i Island. The project highlights Kona’s essential role in the global beekeeping industry through a captivating combination of a mini-documentary, a museum exhibit, and a keiki field trip program. Its mission is to preserve Kona’s diverse agricultural heritage while inspiring future generations of beekeepers and sustainable farmers."
The tour will be given by Leandra Rouse, the exhibit creator.
Lunch will not be part of the program, but feel free to get together after to go out to eat!

We are very lucky to have Kevin of PMDP come over from Oahu to speak to us! You wont want to miss this presention about this amazing work being done in the Hawaiian Island chain.
About the Organization:
The Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project (PMDP) is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the critical wildlife and habitats of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument through annual large-scale marine debris cleanup missions. Over the past five years, PMDP has removed more than 1 million pounds of debris from Papahānaumokuākeaʻs remote reefs and shorelines.
Kevin OʻBrien is the President and Founder of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project (www.pmdphawaii.org). Before founding PMDP, Kevin spent 12 years with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Honolulu, where he led and coordinated ship-based marine research missions throughout the Pacific. His work included planning and executing large-scale marine debris removal efforts within the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.
