YOU CAN HELP! - A message from President John Spicer

As you know, under the best of circumstances many Kona residents are challenged every day to put enough food on their tables to feed their children and themselves. Our club has addressed this challenge in part through our Meet N’ Eat efforts and our support for the Kona Salvation Army.  Our Board of Directors voted to expand our efforts and will MATCH DONATIONS up to $10,000.00.

To give you some perspective on the magnitude of the need, the Kona Salvation Army was serving 80 to 100 families from their food bank prior to the outbreak. Last week they fed 280 families, nearly three times their normal capacity. That number will doubtless increase as the pandemic continues.

When our schools were closed the administrators began working to feed their hungry students Monday through Friday. Meet N’ Eat is now focusing on feeding our underserved youth and families on Saturdays. That program also needs additional funds and resources to make that happen.
